In Via Botteghelle in Salerno, food becomes the means through which deeply knowing the territory in a special ‘Salumeria‘ (delicatessen)

Here, in fact, you can find a Salumeria of local and regional excellences. Near the delicatessen counter, there is a little wine area with wines of the territory of Salerno.

Nevertheless, this is a very particular delicatessen: it is possible to sit inside, in a tasting room, imagined like a taste laboratory with the Berkel slicer of the shop of the 50’s in plain sight. In this room, it is possible to taste cheeses and cured pork meats of the delicatessen counter with sensorial travels suitable for the tastes of the customers, eaten with chosen and suggested local handcrafted wines and beers. There is a wide selection of marinated vegetables of the territory, local honeys and handmade marmalades for possible contaminations with the cheeses.

Then, the tasting is accompanied by a tale of the ‘master of tasting’ who describes in minute details tastes and sensations of the territory from which the products come from. The wine derives from little wineries and it is possible to taste regional and national gems.

All the products of the tasting are sold at the delicatessen counter. They sell even an Icelandic salted codfish fillet, cooked too.

The store has not a fixed menu nor a wine list: the menu is created at the delicatessen counter entering the store, the wines and beers are chosen in the exposition cases in the wine area and the prices of sale are the same as the prices of tasting at the table.

Well, a place where you can taste an ‘all-round dish’ and bring at home its memory. In this way, the food remembers the territory also from the point of view of anthropology, tradition, ancestral dishes, succeeding in satisfying also that human desire to transform an experience in a good memory.
